Are You and your Family Prepared to Live of the Grid in an Emergency

I have been more away and honestly seriously thinking about what would my family and I do if there was an emergency happened and we had to survive without the normal luxuries that we are used to today.  When you watch the news daily(and movies such as After Earth with Will Smith http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1815862/, And The Day After Tomorrow http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319262/), I am sure like me, you have noticed more devastation occurring around the world from wars,  natural  and unnatural catastrophes. We has a human race truly do not prepare as much as we should in case of an emergency situation. I can with most certainty say that when I see a devastation on television, emergency preparation crosses my mind but fades until the next tragic new story comes on.

I think since I have gotten older emergency preparedness stays on my mind especially with children.  It is important to have a meeting place that the family is aware of, survival packs with edible food, and necessities that will be needed to survive the best way that we possibly can during an emergency.  Living "off the Grid" in some emergency situations maybe in some instances can assist with helping us know how to survive without many things that we are very dependent on that will not be available.

In the process of researching on the Internet different survival kits and foods that can be used in many emergency circumstances I came across a few interesting websites.

Although we do not want to think about being in a situation where we have to survive some form of devastation, the possibility is real and it is better to be prepared as much as we can not only for yourself but your family even if something may seem like it maybe impossible to happen to us.
