The Real You Behind the Illusion

Image
I am learning more and more about people that are around me at work or basically in every aspect of my life that their words do not align with their intent or actions. For example, I have family members, co-workers and people that are acquaintances that go faithfully to their place of worship all of the time.  When you talk to them they are generally pleasant on the surface but when you observe them deeper you see the real them. Their actions do not line up with the things that they do. I have found that the people that feel the need to have to put up these illusions in my experience are the same people that stab you in the back or do under-minded things to attempt to hinder your progress.  The amazing thing is that even when people do things to harm you, you have to take the positive from every negative situation.   These people are in fact helping you through your growth process by learning from these situations and moving on. So when you encounter people...

Are You and your Family Prepared to Live of the Grid in an Emergency

I have been more away and honestly seriously thinking about what would my family and I do if there was an emergency happened and we had to survive without the normal luxuries that we are used to today.  When you watch the news daily(and movies such as After Earth with Will Smith  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1815862/ , And The Day After Tomorrow  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319262/ ), I am sure like me, you have noticed more devastation occurring around the world from wars,  natural  and unnatural catastrophes. We has a human race truly do not prepare as much as we should in case of an emergency situation. I can with most certainty say that when I see a devastation on television, emergency preparation crosses my mind but fades until the next tragic new story comes on. I think since I have gotten older emergency preparedness stays on my mind especially with children.  It is important to have a meeting place that the family is aware of, survival packs wi...

Material World

Image
Have we as a human race gotten so self absorbed by materialism? Are our children a result of this twisted behavior? Well if you look around throughout our society, advertisements, conversation adults and children have the answer is absolutely yes. I work very hard to humble my children by reminding them that their are people that have less than we have and they should be thankful and appreciate all that they have. I am not saying that we should not strive or desire the "good life" but I am saying that we should never be so self absorbed that our materialistic desires supersede our human duty to help one another and very importantly become bitter due to not being able to keep up with the Jones of the world. The other day I promised a child that would buy them sneakers when I received my paycheck. This child was wearing unbelievably worn out sneakers to school every day. Since I gave away most of my new and slightly used fall/winter shoes away, I needed to go shoe sho...

Happy Columbus Day... Or is it Really?

Image
I think many of us celebrate holidays such as Columbus Day out of traditions we were taught while growing up and off course for the creative merchandise sales we love so much but should this still be a continued holiday practiced today?  Should this day be celebrated since we are fully aware of the history of the holiday and what transpired when Columbus reached a land that was already inhibited by people?   Should we celebrate the inhumane treatment, murder, theft and other unthinkable acts that were done to the indigenous people that lived in America prior to Columbus’s invasion.   The concept of the Columbus discovering a land that was already occupied always bothered me even when a child.   I always questioned if Native Americans were considered humans in the eyes of the welcoming people that was taken advantage of… As a person that has a diverse heritage from my mother and father’s ancestral lineage which includes Native American, i...

What a great day

Kindness gone Viral

Image
A friendly look, a kindly smile, one good act, and life's worthwhile. ~Author Unknown I received a touching compliment yesterday. I was called an angel and how I went above and beyond the call of duty for a stranger. Sure I got on people’s nerves working on helping this stranger but I was determined to do what is right.  It would have been easy just to let it go and not do the right thing. It brought a warm felt smiling feeling that embraced me all day.  I try to treat people how I want to be treated.  I am not the type to do things just to get recognition.  I am I guess what some may call a silent helper.  I felt good by just knowing that the stranger finally got what was rightfully theirs…. One good act can be life altering to someone.  It is so important not to lose the focus on the greater good while living your daily worldly life.  It is so easy to just be self absorbed by the world. ...

Thankful Thursday

Image
Great morning to you all, Today, I wanted to not only motivate you but to also inspire myself. Each day be thankful for lessons we learn from that helps us become wiser. Be thankful each day for the people and situations that assist with our growth personal and professional growth. Be thankful each day for the people and material things we are blessed to have not the material things we do not have. Be thankful for all of the opportunities you chose to bless someone else without hesitation. Be thankful for always remaining positive in any given situation.  I do believe that we should strive for more in every aspect of our lives but there must be a balance.... Humility and gratitude is very crucial to your personal individual growth. Always remember despite your situation. Despite what you are going through. There is always someone that are going through tougher life challenges. Food for thought..

Adoption Gone Wrong

Image
My heart felt a great pain while reading this story. I attempted to grasp an understanding on why a person would rescue a child by adoption and then torture and starve them to death. With intense adoption laws and allegedly thorough screening processes that a person goes through to adopt a child that, like all children, want to be safe, loved and taken care of. I still am a firm believer that there is a positive lesson in any given situation.  This tragedy is an awakening that the adoption process needs to be evaluated and revamped for the sake of our children who are are future.     http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2416514/Hana-Williams-Washington-adoptive-parents-Larry-Carri-Williams-GUILTY-manslaughter.html

No Rain on My Parade

Image
I am finding that the more i gear my life towards more positive not only for myself but for all of the people around me, the more individuals or situations come to deter me from being positive.  For the last few months this has been a real battle for me and I cannot understand why chaos and unhappiness has been more persistent now in my life. I realized today with dealing with daily challenges, that I is so easy to be miserable, unhappy, and try to destroy someone else's happiness.  Your would think that I would be the opposite but is not at realized that some people are unhappy with themselves. The unhappiness could be from a relationship, finances, low self esteem, and the fact that despite what they toss my way, I still strive to find the positive out of the situation.  Me being positive and uplifting can possibly brightens someone's day.  Being unhappy is a choice.. Continuing to be positive is a choice I am happy to make. I have to admit the ...

Change Your Thoughts Change your Life

Image
Start the Chain of Change Within "If you find yourself giving in to negativity, you are selling yourself short.  The moment you feel the slightest twinge of a negative thought, stop and remind  yourself how powerful you are. Do the disciplined, intentional work to keep your thoughts positive. Because  whatever you most consistently think, is where your life will surely and  steadily go." — Ralph Marston   Everyday work on changing your thought patterns. When a negative thought enters, catch yourself and combat it with something positive.  When you have thoughts of self doubt immediately change it to thoughts of knowing and believing in your capabilities.  We are human it will happen but we must strive to make this a habit that is apart every aspect of our lives.   Keep people around you that are striving for the greater good; individuals that are  Energy attacks like energy. Some people think that an individual cannot ma...

Cool Artwork

Image
My oldest daughter and my younger son decided to for fun create art work to display in the house. They went out and bought a small canvas and a large box of multi colored crayons. They  put sheets of paper on the walls and the floor so the crayons would not drip. Then my children took the canvas and superglued the crayons to edge of the canvas.   They took a hair blow dryer and put the heat towards the crayons which allowed the colors to run down the canvas. I was so amazed on how it turned out, it inspired me to start creating decorations etc for our house. Without my children realizing that they are not only saving money by creating their own decorations, they are personalizing their creations and it will not look like anything out there because it is one of a kind. the artwork will never look exactly like someone elses.  Hmmm sounds like a natural business mind. So inspired :) Signed proud mom of children with creative geniuses with entrepren...

Who Said Kids will Hate Eating Treats

Image
My children and I had a fun last weekend creating our own fruit popsicles.  Everything was pretty much impromptu. We did not measure or have any idea what we were doing :)  We were going to make strawberry and banana popsicles but we decided why not lets put more fruit in the mix.  So we added along with strawberries and bananas, blueberries, green apples, red apples watermelon and mango.  We put the fruit in a blender along with a small amount of Agave(a natural sweetener) coconut milk, and a little vanilla rice milk.  We blended the fruit mixture for only a few seconds since we wanted to have the popsicles have chunks of fruit like the ones we bought from the store. For the life of me we could not find popsicle sticks or molds that we could use for our fruit creation. We went to store after store and I was told it was out of season.. Really even the craft stores.. Well we decided to use toothpicks and ice trays.  We placed the tray in the freezer (with...

I am So Excited!

Image
I am so excited! I have finally chosen to take myself out of my comfort zone and going after one of my life dreams to become a blogger. Even as a child I enjoyed writing poems, research papers etc.  I have a lot to share that I hope be helpful to at least one person. My mother, my biggest fan always encouraged me to follow my dreams and not to fear to be different.  She embodied in my a world of diversified information from culture, traditional and non-traditional medicine, being humble when necessary and strong when I have to be...  Since she ascended (passed on) May 3, 2011, The life lessons, the value for all of humanity, embracing and understanding diversity I hold on to dearly and continue to evolve in a positive, loving way. I hold on to her strength to fight for what is right on all for all of humanity.  I do this not only for myself but for my children.  As a parent, I understand that I have an important role to not only for my children but for other...
